About
My sweet studio space, a dream come true! |
I was born and raised in Mill Valley, CA. I spent many creative years living in Los Angeles before returning to the Bay Area. I am currently living and working in Petaluma, CA. I went to California College of Art (when it was still CCAC) and then worked and studied at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. I have gathered inspiration from being a set & event decorator, floral designer, graphic designer and artist. I am currently pursing a path full of art, illustration and design. I set out, many years ago at CCAC to create design that felt handmade & warm. At the time the technology didn't exist to support that. We were doing type layouts on Xerox machines! But today, it's all coming together with digital brushes and amazing fonts. I'm finding my way in that balance, everyday. Follow me and see where it leads...

Altered Books & Collage
I love working with pages from old books & vintage thread. It's been a thing with me for over 10 years and in that time I've been participating the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art (Marin MOCA) Altered Book Show. Every year, thru toddlers, pregnancy, new baby...thru it all, I have donated a piece. It is their major fundraiser and I am honored to have been a part of it for so many years.

Things I make...
I was so lucky to go to a dear friend's property in Mendocino for Mom Camp - a chance for grown ups to hang out and make things. I learned so much! I had never dyed with Indigo and I got to try it and fell in love with this 'true' blue! We also did some weaving and making "yarn" out of fabric scraps. This led to making baskets out of the "yarn" and eventually adding rope to make a bigger basket. I love that I came home with new skills that I have used to make beautiful things for my family and friends.
Waldorf Inspired Craft
I started school, long ago, in Waldorf kindergarten. I remember carding wool and watching my teacher spin it into yarn. My love of wool started there, but as I transitioned to public school and a life far from craft, I lost that love a little. When my daughter started a Waldorf inspired program in first grade, I learned to needle felt to help make things for a fundraiser and as I worked with raw wool, it all came flooding back. I am so grateful to have this way of making, back in my life.
