Mountain Mama
I have wanted to tell stories vusually for a long time now. I had no idea I would get the chance to make a graphic novel in my humanities program at Dominican University. Yes, I dreamed of finishing my degree at an art school, but this experience keeps surprising me. The English Department at Dominican is so creative and I'm so lucky to be there.
Please scroll through this story of how Mt. Tamalpais became "The Sleeping Lady" based on the myth I grew up hearing as a child. It's not 'true' in the sense that the Miwok did not actually have a story like this. But it is a local legend and a version of it was performed at one of the first Mountain Plays on Mt. Tam in 1921. This version is mine and I hope you enjoy it!
